Dear Dao1776, Congratulations on your finding home. It was a wonderful thing beyond speech, isn't it? The Chinese have a saying: Having heard the Way in the morning, a death in the evening would be without regret. Of course this is an exaggeration, but it does convey a message that truth-finding is really an exciting thing to experience. The longer the way you have wandered about before comimg to the truth, the dearer your experience would be. And in this sense your past roundabouts were much more meaningful to you than they seemed to be, right? Just a piece of advice for you: before entering the gate of truth, a person seeks and uses the mind; after entering the gate of truth, he/she contemplates and concentrates, wielding wisdom. -acarefreeman

" Open mind " Dear friends, From my understanding ; When ever I look in ours mind , just like one side of the moon which we saw. It is " Bright and Shine " as the full moon is in everybody , as natural , ours basic instinct as human beings. But in the reality, doesn't show as it should. The mind of ordinary people like us, you and me, are not so far as the moon in a month.Could be like " The Dark Moon " or " Half Moon ". It is because of the shadow of the human's world. Human's world, 3 in 4 are water, The Sea....compare with 3 in 4 of human life. Dear friends, We are in the water...The Sea....and it is " The Sea of Passion ! ". So, Dark side on the moon is the shadow of the passion world. ( From my understanding in the Term of The Dharma " The Fifth Udakupamasutta " : The seven individuals in water . ) Will be " The day " that mind could be like " The New Full Moon ". Could be once or twice, 5 minute, 10 minute or more in the life time of practising meditation. " A precious moment for all practioner , meditator " or Never-ever happen in our life. Once we're really practising in " The Right Way ", by then we could open " The Big Gate ". Mind will open as natural, just like " The New Full Moon ". " Bright and Shine " " Happy and Joy " , Deep peaceful mind , Full of Metta, Karuna , Mudita. " Energy & Power " comes with the Wisdom. Dear friends , open ours mind for morality. B.Eagle

Re: homosexual

From: Munchusorn1
Message 6 in Discussion

Hi,

As far as I know, from Abidhamma book,
Homosexualtiy caused from the past life's wrongful kamma. They broke the 3
rd precept eg. dishonest to his/here own wife/husband. You may need to
review the details of the 3rd precept to gain clearer information. I can't
confirm this is the saying of Lord Buddha or not. It seems to be from the
later holy monk who wrote the commentary after the Tipitaka has been
written.

I do agree with Blue Eagle that no matter what you are, just be a good
person (at least adhere to the 5 precepts).

Metta,
KM

Dear nickycomputy, It is interesting question , let's me try to answer ; To be honest, never I heard anything in The Dharma of Lord Buddha about " homosexual ". As The Buddhists , we all learned how to live together with peaceful , very much compromise , support each other when ever we have a chance, with Metta, Karuna, Mudita , one of the most important is we much " Respect " all the life. In my way of thinking , if the persons are " homosexual " as his/her Karma (by naturally ) and their way are not in trouble for anyone , lives their life in peace , make a honest living , support the society with their heart , " Respect " the others and so. There are nothing in between as we all " Human Beings ". B.Eagle

Re: jesus a buddhist?

-----------------------------------------------------------

New Message on Theravada Buddhist Forum

-----------------------------------------------------------
From: acarefreeman
Message 3 in Discussion

Dear NomadEzekiel,
In a Buddhist's point of view, there is nothing wrong in thinking Jesus to be a Buddhist, no matter whether he had actually practised Buddhism or not, for the following reasons: First, before his full enlightment as a Buddha, every Bodhisattva, for many aeons of time, must accumulate merits and transform the world. To do good deeds and to purify the mind is the beginning of Buddhist truth-seeking; and this was exactly what Jesus did and exactly what he asked his people do. Second, what Jesus taught was fundamentally different from the teachings of those Old Testament prophets---To cite a few examples: a loving God for all people in the world instead of a God for Israel; love one's enemy as well as friends instead of "an eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth" ... ... and so, there is more reason to believe he was a bodhisattva than a prophet for the Old Testment God. Third, Jesus was not free from anger and greed (cursed a fig tree when being thirsty and not able to get its fruits); Neither did he have clean and pure dharma (dying a criminal death on the cross, no matter whether voluntarily or not ). In both repects he was only comparable to a bodhisattva, but not a Buddha, not to mention the difference in wisdom and power between Jesus and a Buddha. -acarefreeman

If you can completely stop eating meat, that's fine; Otherwise, how about gradually reducing the amount of meat you eat per day? As for your children, since they are still growing, it does not make sense to make them to be vegetarians. So, please do whatever falls within your responsibility as parents to take good care of your children. -acarefreeboy
