Dear friends, Now, We should go and take a look at Eight Precepts , in the Precept no.6 No.6 vikalabhojana veramani sikkha padam samadiyani I undertake the precept to refrain from eating at the forbidden time. (i.e, after noon ) Dear friends, No Dinner! This Precept could makes most of the people nervous! and worry. And don't want to study with Ajahn Bhikkhu. Which is very important if we really want to learn how to Meditate. What is the reason by doing this? Let's me explain ; Meditation in Buddhist tradition , we always did with precepts, Five or Eight Precepts and we will Meditate in the night. As the lay people, during in the day we all busy with ours matter. Taking 5 Precepts for practising and 8 Precepts when we are studing with Ajahn Bhikkhu , for some are taking 8 Precepts in both term practising and studing. During Meditation, what we want is " Let's mind works only " The problem of taking 5 Precepts is " Falling sleep during Meditation " always happened even I- myself ( to be honest ). That's the only reason. So, if we're taking 5 Precepts, we will meditate after mid-night or early morning at 4.30 am. to 5-6 am., make sure that there are NO-Food in ours stomach. By taking 8 Precepts we will start from 7.00 pm.up to Midnight or more till 4.00 am.We will find that mind could works better, could goes deeply in Meditate , Practioners could sit long hours, no disturb from the noise and gas in stomach , body very light , don't feel heavy at stomach area. It's hollow! and only mind is working, moving. By that time you will forget even food ! That's how Bhikkhus could sit for long and Bhikkhus in Meditation ( in Thailand ) will take only a meal per day. Are you still nervous or worry with 8 Precepts ? By now you must be ready to take 8 Precepts and my duty nearly done. B.Eagle

Take the analogy of a piece of paper. When the paper is created, we say that its birthday was in a factory or that is was the day that it was created. But look closely in the orgin of the paper, you will find that there is no true paper element. The paper is made up of trees, water, sunshine, soil and fertiliser and etc...etc... etc... If one of this elements was absent, the paper could not have come to being. If there was no water and sunshine, there would be no trees. If there was no clouds, sunshine, trees, oceans rivers, if this great mass of Earth was just a dehydrated mass, no evaporation can occur, no rain would fall, no trees would grow, and hence no paper. This was probably what the Lord Buddha meant by dependent origination. No dhamma can come into being without being dependent on other sources. Hence, all dhammas are birthless and deathless. What comes into being would face dissolution and converted into other forms.

Dear NomadEzekiel , let's me try to answer this question in the name of a Buddhist . In 1992 , I saw a book in Oxford, UK. As I could remember that the author lady was wrote about Jesus Christ , Time when he was young , he used to travel to India with the reason of trading, spend sometimes in India , study Dharma&Meditation in Buddhism , before return home. No one know the truth , everything just guess from the research from the history over 1900 years , and most of us were born after 1900 years. And I think , the reason to say that is ; there are a lot of Jesus Christ Teaching very close to Buddhism , but not the same. Doesn't matter in any how , look deeply there are billion of good Christian in all over the world. Means the Teaching of Jesus Christ , if the person follow up with purity of mind the benefit will be good to all .Same as Buddhism. B.Eagle .
